For now, we will go ahead and add in the joke of the day permanently starting on Friday 🙂

Quote of the Day:

  2. National Chip and Dip Day: This is a fun day to enjoy some delicious chips and dip with friends and family. Try making your own homemade dip or try a new flavor of chips.

  3. National Tamale Day: Tamales are a traditional Mexican dish made of masa (corn dough) filled with meat, cheese, vegetables, or other ingredients. Celebrate this day by enjoying some delicious tamales or by trying to make your own.

  5. Near Miss Day: On this day in 1989, a large asteroid passed by the Earth at a relatively close distance. This day is a reminder of the importance of tracking near-Earth objects and the potential dangers they pose. Celebrate this day by learning more about asteroids and other near-Earth objects.

Story of the Day:

The Camp Fire, one of the deadliest wildfires in California's history, had destroyed over 150,000 acres of land and claimed the lives of dozens of people and animals.

As the firefighters were working to put out the flames, they stumbled upon Odin, who had been left behind by his owners during the evacuation.

The dog was badly burned and struggling to survive, but the firefighters refused to leave him behind.

Despite the danger, the firefighters carried Odin to safety, wrapping him in a blanket and giving him water to drink.

They then transported him to a nearby animal hospital, where he received lifesaving treatment for his injuries.

Odin's story quickly went viral, and he became a symbol of hope and resilience in the face of tragedy.

The firefighters who rescued him were hailed as heroes, and Odin was eventually reunited with his grateful owners.

The story of Odin's rescue is a powerful reminder of the bravery and compassion of our first responders, and of the enduring bond between humans and animals.

It shows that even in the darkest of times, there is still hope, and that with a little kindness and compassion, we can make a difference in the lives of those around us.

The Positive Impact Challenge:

Try and do one of the following this week:

  • Send someone at your place of work, church, or friend group a nice email of appreciation, acknowledging some of the hard work they have been doing.

  • See if you can help volunteer your time or pledge money to a good local organization that you care about.

  • Try and support small businesses whenever you are purchasing something new.

Good Luck!
